Fanboy and Chum Chum - Season Two Premiere

I just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to watch our show! If you didn't catch it yesterday, it will be airing everyday this week at 3:00 p.m. These are all episodes that I have worked on, and they mark my first official television credits!

As seen right after the show:

And the much prettier version that will be seen on the future DVDs:

I guess all those years of studying camera angles and writing styles have finally paid off...in the most unexpected way. I NEVER thought I would end up working in animation, but it has turned out to be the most rewarding experience possible.  I couldn't dream of a better job to have right out of college.  I'm truly enjoying every minute.

Graceland - Part Two

Welcome to the second half of our Graceland recap! Next we wanted to share some of our favorite sights outside of the house.

The backyard was fit with tons of room for the Presley's hobbies. Here they kept horses, raced golf carts and hosted many summer barbeques. Now the yard serves one major purpose...

Here lies Elvis, his parents, and his twin brother (who died at birth).

After paying our respects, we wandered out to the garage. Of all the Presley automobiles, this was our favorite. We both agreed it's our dream car.

How cute does Priscilla look?

The last portion of the tour was a look at Elvis' personal airplanes. He had two. One is a smaller jet, typical of the private planes many celebrities have. But the second was HUGE. We're talking almost the size of the commercial plane we took to get there.

At this point the tour was over, the rain was beginning to pour, and we were some very hungry tourists.

But before I wrap up this post, I want to leave you with my absolute FAVORITE piece of the entire tour.

There is something so pretty about this photograph. I can't quite describe it, but I never want to forget it. Thus, I snapped a quick picture on my camera and shared it with all of you.

Elvis has left the building! (Sorry, I had to say it)

Graceland - Part One

On our way to New Orleans, we drove through Memphis to see the birthplace of our beloved "King of Rock n' Roll".  It was pretty much exactly how we imagined. Very southern. Very extravagant. Very Elvis.

Because we were visiting during Christmas, we had the great pleasure of being greeted by this:

A giant Nativity. The same one Elvis put out every year.

This was our first look at the mansion. We were a little surprised to see how much smaller it looked in person. Despite the cheesy lion statues, it's a very beautiful house.

Upon entering, we were welcomed in by a tour guide. First stop...the living room!

Ahhh, the 1970s

Quite possibly the longest sofa in existence.
The stairs in this home are very unique. Each staircase feels like its own little room within a room.

This one was completely covered in mirrors! I was intrigued.
These next few rooms were my favorites.

The basement. Complete with three television sets.
We figured out very quickly that this guy liked things in excess.

The Jungle Room. The acoustics in this room were so good that Elvis reecorded a whole album here!
Perhaps all that shag carpet had something to do with it?

The guest room. This is where Elvis' parents stayed.
I think of all the rooms in the house, this one stands the test of time.  Very "Hollywood Regency".
There are pieces in here that I would use in my own room if I could.

Tomorrow's post will give you a look at our tour outside the mansion, including a glimpse at the Presley's toys!

The Great Wisdom Tooth Extraction

This past Friday Alena went under the knife! Those darn wisdom teeth just couldn't wait any longer.

Recovering!

The best part was the hilarious conversation we had via text message post surgery.  Apparently anesthesia and Alena don't mix well.

Me: Are you out of surgery yet?
Alena: I just got off aahahh this is cool aahha ee nd

Me: Does it hurt?
Alena: Ahahahahaha lol weeee, No its not hurt ahahaha

Me: Are you on your way home now?
Alena: Think we're going home . I don't think they took my teeth away haha I just want food and laughing.

Me: Are you really tired?
Alena: No I just can't get over the way chin feels like an algae eater.

Yes, this is word for word.

One dry socket and several pain killers later, Alena is recovering quite well. I think once she can eat something other than pudding and yogurt she will feel as good as new!

LaFayette Cemetery No. 1

This is the first installment of our New Orleans trip re-cap. Visiting an old cemetery was high on the list of things we wanted to do, and it certainly did not disappoint.

From Scotland, an engineer, and a Thompson.  Perhaps some sort of relation?

Couldn't resist a creepy sister picture (a la The Shining).

While exploring, we ran into an 86 year old tour guide.  After an impromptu story time about her escape from Hurricane Katrina, she made sure to point out this empty tomb.
We were tempted to climb in....

While most would think an afternoon in a graveyard would be a bit unsettling, it was quite the opposite. We left feeling peaceful and inspired, and would have spent the whole day there if we could!
